YOU GET a server and game locator with the game so you can create your own game or join another game. The game server is great for shared adventure, and there's a lockout feature, if you prefer your game server to have a password.

The peaceful valley which is the SHIRE, a Medieval word referring to a county in the English Midlands, lay quiet for some hundreds of centuries, until, in the year 602, a band of Viking marauders came upon the tiny island and overran it.

Now the Shire is populated by evil things, ghosts and goblins, bogglies and goobers, shades and foul creatures of the night.

Unfortunately, when the Vikings left, they took everything with them that might have been of use in fighting the creatures...except a few items here and there...

Not enough weapons to go around, really, so the village has elected you, Bog the Tailor to be their Champion.

Why you?

Because you were the only one who didn't object.

Now that you are officially the Chosen One, you are given your assignment, as if you didn't already know what they had in mind.

You are to return to the Shire and free it from all the various ogres, trolls, goblins, ghouls and ghosts that have overrun the land, and when you have made it safe, the others will return to their daily lives as if nothing had ever happened.

You have no choice. Your fellow villagers from The Shire are depending on you. Besides, they've left you in town with nothing but what you're wearing -- a small leather cap, a leather jerkin and some hose and a fairly new pair of soft forest boots.

You have no weapon, not even a knife....

There is a plus side to all of this, however; if you succeed -- not that it's even vaguely possible, but maybe there's some wild outside chance for you -- you will free Princess Foan from her imprisonment and win the usual reward for such things ... half the Kingdom, her hand in marriage and a beautiful castle in the midst of the SHIRE, your beloved Homeland!
